This analysis enables us to verify the causes of breakage in metal components.
It represents the synthesis of all specializations in analyses and methodologies which, combined with Microscopy and Metallography, are used to ascertain the real causes of breakage in a solid.
A fracture may be due to overloading, chemical aggression, intrinsic characteristics of the materials, environmental factors or a combination of some or all of the above causes, resulting in an apparently incomprehensible breakage.
However, it is unlikely that the ‘how’ and ‘why’ of a structural failure escapes a careful analysis performed with appropriate field and laboratory instruments.
