An extremely versatile method which allows us to verify:
- structures and surfaces lying beneath layers, coatings or coverings
- overheating in electrical or mechanical systems
- humidity build-up
It is not however, always reliable nor easy to employ due to the necessity of operating in environments that are free from extraneous thermal radiation or uncontrolled air circulation.
Nevertheless an excellent tool, even if not fail-safe and it should be presented as such; without any of the hazy ‘special effects’ often promised.
